Come with me on a little excursion of verbal processing! I have an adorable newborn session for you this morning. But perhaps because I am currently pregnant with my third baby, I find myself reflecting on newborn photography. So if you like pretty pictures and enjoy reading words, carry on! Otherwise you can absolutely skip to the pictures.

Since having children of my own, newborn sessions have become so sweet and special to me. Don’t misunderstand me, all photography be it weddings, family sessions, portraits ect is special. But there is something so sacred about new life. It is a beautiful, raw intense process and capturing a moment of that beauty is a privilege, that is not lost on me. Between you and me, I would love to have the opportunity to capture a birth, but for now I am content with capturing a small piece of those precious moments during the first few weeks at home.

Whether you’ve chosen a perfectly curated nursery or found a corner of your bedroom to make baby’s own, your journey is worth remembering. Because, truly Mom and Dad while this may be some of the hardest work you’ve ever done, it will also be the best and most rewarding, even when it doesn’t feel like it. . . Do I sound like I am giving myself a pep-talk? I may be preaching to myself. As I mentioned we’re on baby number three (that we have high hopes for meeting earth-side. That’s a story for another day) And it feels like the trenches a lot of the time.

But that is where images are so important! Going back through my own kid’s pictures and looking at y’all’s images, that I have captured over the years, I am reminded of how precious and fleeting it all is. The same thing happens to me every time I get to photograph a wedding. I go right back to my own wedding day and while I use to tear up during the ceremony (still do sometimes) I almost lost it at the last wedding I did, during the Mother/Son dance because for the first time I realized I may have the honor of dancing with my son someday. (I’ll apologize in advance, kiddo, I will probably be bawling.) So thank you, to everyone who has chosen me to share in their milestones; you continue to remind me why I do this and you keep me searching for the beautiful moments everyday.

Now for the pretty pictures I promised! I knew of Danielle and Cam through mutual friends. And my husband, Paul, and Cam are also in a church small group together. It was so nice finally meeting them for myself and under such wonderful circumstances! Their sweet little boy was so cute, and he rocked his first official photo session! Please enjoy just a few of my favorites from their session.

The nursery was lovely and full of the sweetest little details. The cradle was handmade, and the teddy bear was Cam’s.
